Workcamp Łódź 2018 completed successfully!

14 days, 30 volunteers, 6 renovated rooms with a total area of over 140 m2 and 20 children for whom all these efforts :) Workcamp Łódź project is completed successfully again. For several years, Mota-Engil Central Europe together with the students, has been helping children living in Children's Homes. This year, the refurbishment work was carried out also by our colleagues from our two construction sites in Łódź - Iluminio II and Nowa Dzielnica at Wodna street - Mateusz and Artur. The renovation took place at the Children's Home No. 9 at Lniana street in Łódź, in which there are about 20 children between the ages of 1.5 and 6 years.

– For me, this is a great initiative in which students and graduates of building faculties (associated in the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians) take their time to renovate a public benefit facility – says Mateusz – volunteer. – The preparation period itself is much longer, and gaining sponsors, patrons and above all, choosing only one institution is extremely difficult. Nevertheless, the fortitude and enthusiasm of my colleagues always aroused optimism and hope in me, that everything will work. I have been working for 4 years at Workcamp – initially as a volunteer, then as a coordinator and seeing how many people are taking part in this project, I am always happy, that we do not pass indifferently to other people. It is also important for me that I work in a company, that is not insensitive to such a problem. Mota-Engil Central Europe has been supporting our project for 3 years and allows others, who did not have easy life, to be able to feel important and appreciated.

– We mainly focus on refreshing walls and parquet, as well as replacing furniture in the kitchen. This is the fourth Workcamp in Łódź and the third in which I participate. I am happy to be able to participate in this event, because it brings together many wonderful people with open hearts, who take their free time to help others – says Artur – volunteer. – Each time it is a very hard physical work, we often encounter many difficulties, that already appear during the work. Thanks to mutual support and experience gained over the years, we are able to overcome all adversities. As construction engineers, we gain experience through works such as plastering, painting, tile laying, etc., and we learn respect for physical work. Workcamp, however, is not just a work. Workcamp means people – volunteers who give all their hearts to make the world of these children a little better thanks to the collected resources, tools and mutual support. The final effect is the renovated facility.

This year, the volunteers in Łódź, under the care of the new coordinators, absolutely managed the challenge and left the next branch in a better standard. We are convinced that next year the renovation of another facility will also succeed. – I hope, that a day will come, when calling to publicly-needed premises, we will hear: "There is no need for your help – you have renovated everything that was needed" – emphasizes Mateusz.

We are very happy, that we can support this project. We congratulate all volunteers for perseverance and we aould like to thank You for this fantastic initiative!
