Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Social responsibility has a vital, strategic role at Mota-Engil Central Europe. The company follows the highest standards relating to labour rights, human rights, responsibility for the completed works and their impact on the public. The areas of corporate social responsibility in which the company is particularly involved include the following:
- Occupational health and safety
- Road safety
- Social engagement
- Human resources
Occupational health and safety
In the area of occupational health and safety, the company is actively involved in internal activities: training, workshops and purchase of new equipment. Mota-Engil Central Europe is also active in the Agreement for Construction Safety in order to improve safety at Polish construction sites.
Road safety
Road safety is a permanent feature of the activities of Mota-Engil Central Europe. The company initiated a long term national campaign for the improvement of road traffic safety, “Safely to the destination!”, already in 2010. Since then, the campaign has continued to grow, and it is now one of the distinguishing marks of the company.
Social engagement
Wherever construction works are carried out, Mota-Engil rises up to meet the expectations of the local community. To this end, the company has created the “We support locally” social programme covering a variety of social projects adapted to the actual needs of the local community.
Human resources
In addition to the constant development activities aimed at the personnel, the strategic CSR areas were expanded in 2015 to also include education. The FMAM scholarship programme for the children of the company's personnel, co organised by Mota-Engil Central Europe and the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, has been created.
In 2016, Mota-Engil Central Europe won the prestigious award in the category: “OUTSTANDING HUMAN CAPITAL INVESTOR”. The implemented strategy and its practical application demonstrated that Mota-Engil Central Europe was a responsible company, catering to the needs of local communities throughout Poland and caring for its personnel, providing a fine example of a sustainable policy, both internally and in cooperation with external entities.
