Expansion and Modernization of the Main Public Library of the Mazowieckie Voivedship

Description

The Public Library of the Capital City of Warsaw and, at the same time, the Main Public Library of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, commonly known as the “Library on Koszykowa”, is one of the biggest and oldest public libraries in Poland. On February 20th 2013, the contract for “The Execution of Construction Works, Elaboration of the Interior Design and Delivery of the First Fittings under the Project of the Expansion and Modernization of the Main Public Library of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship” was officially signed.

Two buildings (the North Outbuilding and the Arts Section) will be demolished and replaced with new facilities – the Office Building and the Arts Section Reading Room respectively. Moreover, a vertical extension of the transformer station on the northern wall of the Warehouse will be executed and two warehouse storeys will be added to the middle outbuilding. The yards will be covered with a glass roof connecting the Kierbedź Building and the Office Building. Other buildings, except for the Kierbedź Building, will be modernized and reconstructed.
