The construction of the S8 expressway along the section in question  aims at contributing to the creation of a supraregional transit road connecting the following voivodeships:  dolnośląskie, wielkopolskie, łódzkie, mazowieckie and podlaskie.

SCOPE OF THE INVESTMENT

The basic scope of the investment includes:

• the S8 expressway, length: 16.6 km,
• the ”Kępno” interchange,
• the ”Wieruszów” interchange along with a connector with the National Road No. 8, length: 1.6 km plus intersections within that road,
• reconstruction of the national road system (DK-8 within the area of the intersection in Wieruszów), length: 0.5 km,
• reconstruction of the district road system (overall: 5 roads, including 3 accesses to overbridges), of the total length of 2.9 km,
• reconstruction of the existent local road system (overall: 5 roads, including 1 access to overbridges), of the total length of 1.8 km,
• construction of internal roads of the total length of 18.2 km, of which 4.9 km has hardened (bituminous) pavement and the remaining part has improved, non-hardened (gravel) pavement,
• passenger service areas: MOP II ”Kierzno płn.” and MOP III ”Kierzno płd.” within the scope of circulation roads, car parks and various types of vehicle stands.                                      
• 18 road structures were built:
• 1 road-over-rail, 6 overbridges (including 1 over dirt tracks, serving as a deer crossing), 2 bridges serving as deer crossings, 2 ecological crossings, 1 underground pedestrian crossing between passenger service areas, 1 bridge along the S8 – DK8 connector, serving as an underground deer crossing, 5 expressway overbridges along transverse roads.
