The main aim of investment was construction of collision-safe connection of roads from Zabierzów to Krakow and Krakow to Balice being a part of southern by-pass of Kraków. The Radzikowskiego Interchange is a multi-level junction with dual carriageways. Within the investment two viaducts were executed – in the route of slip roads Zabierzów-Kraków (318.10 m long and 15.80 m wide) and Kraków-Balice (165.00 m long and 11.20 m wide) with foundations were founded on the large diameters piles ø1500 mm, L=12,00 m and load-bearing structure consists of compressed piles made of reinforced concrete with collaborating slab made of reinforced concrete with supports. Structural solutions of high technical level were implemented, such as e.g. compressed cables of rarely used length. The scope of works covers construction of interchange slip roads, widening and strengthening of a part of existing carriageway, drainage system and storm water system, reconstruction of interfering power and telecommunication devices. In order to reduce traffic arduousness the acoustic screens of total length 713 m will be assembled. Pedestrian and cycle route protected by safety barriers was constructed along Zabierzów - Kraków slip road. Automatic device for slippery pavement warning with sensors of weather conditions in wearing course of pavement was installed on the viaducts.
