Mota-Engil signed a contract with YIT for the first stage of the Żurawie (Cranes) project in Gdansk. The contract provides for the construction of a residential building with 243 apartments.
The building will consist of cascading storeys: 12, 10 and 8 above ground and one underground storey. The total area will amount to 12,880 sqm.
The new building will be constructed in the Młode Miasto (Young City) district of Gdańsk on Nowomiejska, Popiełuszki and Jaracza streets. The building will be located in the vicinity of the European Solidarity Centre and the Old Town, near the historic gate of the Gdansk Shipyard. Professor Rainer Mahlamäki, a world-famous architect from Finland, is responsible for the concept. The project itself has an industrial character, referring in its layout and choice of materials to the shipyard halls, ships, sea and dunes. Thanks to this, the building will naturally blend in with its surroundings. In the future, the Investment will add a co-living building with 156 units and an office building offering 23,000 sqm of leasable space.
