“The Safety of Children as Traffic Participants” conference.

On January 26-27th 2012, a conference was held in Krasnobród entitled “The Safety of Children as Traffic Participants”, organized by the Polish Road Congress. The honorary auspices over the conference were taken by the Marshall of Lubelskie voivodeship, Mr. Krzysztof Hetman, while the substantive auspices were taken by the Motor Transport Institute. The conference programme manager was prof. Ryszard Krystek. On behalf of Mota-Engil Central Europe, a presentation was presented by Mrs. Katarzyna Dobrzańska-Junco, entitled: “Concern for Road Safety as an Element of Corporate Social Responsibility”. The subject of the speech was the long-term road safety campaign under the name: “Safely to the Destination”.

Road Safety Ceremony

On the 25th of November, in Hyatt Hotel in Warsaw, the prize-giving ceremony within „Partner Bezpieczeństwa Ruchu Drogowego” (“Road Safety Partner”) took place. Among the companies which are deeply involved in road safety promotion (almost 150 persons from all over Poland), there was also Mota-Engil Central Europe.
The co-organizer of the ceremony was Krajowa Rada Bezpieczeństwa Ruchu Drogowego (National Road Safety Board), and the honorary patronage was provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Mota-Engil Central Europe, being the only building company which fights for road safety (”Safely to the Destination”) so intensively, was invited to the official gala.
The wife of the President of Poland, Mrs Anna Komorowska, gave a special speech for the participants of the ceremony, including Mota-Engil Central Europe (attachment).
Stowarzyszenie Partnerstwo dla Bezpieczeństwa Drogowego (Road Safety Partnership Association) appointed the chapter of the Award entitled „Partner Bezpieczeństwa Ruchu Drogowego” („Road Safety Partner), which chose 5 laureates in five categories – the person of the year, the non-governmental organization of the year, the public institution of the year, the company of the year and the media of the year.
Apart from the companies which are deeply involved in fighting for road safety in Poland, also the representatives of , among others, national and local authorities, non-governmental organizations, public services and scientific circles were invited to participate in the aforementioned event. All these institutions and persons are united by a common goal, namely, acting for the improvement of road safety in Poland.

Building Fairs

For the last 16 years, during road construction fair entitled „AUTOSTRADA-POLSKA” the major companies involved in road construction industry, traffic engineering and road safety present their offer. In this year’s fair participated over 700 companies from, among others, Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Ukraine, Ireland, Czech Republic, Austria, Great Britain, France, Slovakia, Luxemburg, Turkey, Greece, Sweden, Hungary, Korea and Poland. There were presented heavy machines and building equipment, materials and raw materials for road construction, devices and paints for road marking as well as elements of infrastructure connected with the use of roads and motorways.
As every year, the fairs were accompanied by a varied programme of scientific and technical conferences, seminaries and presentations of numerous companies. On the first day of the fair – 12th of May, took place a conference organized by Instytut Badawczy Dróg i Mostów, entitled „Modern Systems of Anticorrosive Protection of Bridge Objects.” The conference aimed at presenting solutions, in terms of technologies and materials, within the scope of anticorrosive protection of concrete and steel bridge objects. On the next day, took place a discussion concerning lightning, optical road marking and signaling systems. On the third day, during technical and Historical Conference entitled " In order to measure the future road, one must know where he comes from”, on the 190th anniversary of the creation of General Directorate for Roads and Motorways, the history of the aforementioned organization was presented. The visitors were entertained with dynamic demonstrations of road construction machines which were displayed on a specially- prepared area.
Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A. participated in the fair in Kielce for the 6th time. As every year, our stand attracted many visitors and business partners. All the time, many people kept attending the stall with information materials and many of them expressed their positive opinion regarding the company of Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A. During the fair, at our stand, numerous business meetings took place, which, we hope, shall soon result in fruitful cooperation.

European Economic Congress

May 31st – June 2nd 2010 Katowice/Silesia/Poland
The European Economic Congress is one of the most important events of this kind in Europe. It is the largest business event in Central Europe, organized under the patronage of Jose Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Comission. The Honorary Chairman of the Council of the event was Jerzy Buzek, the President of the European Parliament.
The Congress was a meeting place for dialogue about the European economy and its future. Three days of debates included numerous discussions and business meetings regarding key problems for the future of Europe and Poland (the new European order, the climat –energy package, European energy market, the innovativeness of the economy, the extension of the modern transport and telecommunications infrastructure, investment attractiveness of metropolises, cities and regions and many more). The meeting counted on over 3500 participants and 700 lecturers – high profile figures from politics, business and science.
On Tuesday, 01.06.2010 within the Infrastructure/ Building Industry/ Real Estate block session, Mr. Paulo Silva, the Member of the Board and Finance Director of Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A. leaded the presentation and discussion on current situation of the construction sector in Poland, expectations for the forthcoming years and major challenges facing the industry.
In the debate participated the heads of Polish leading construction and real estate companies, banking sector and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The whole block session included areas such as consequences of the crisis, harsh competition, liquidity problems, public infrastructure investments and EU funds, the power industry, the raw materials sector, telecommunications and trade, housing construction as well as prospects and growth in the areas supporting the building industry.
All the debates and discussions submitted an added values and contributed to common agreement and better understanding of current economic situation within the all European Union countries.

Conference on Contract Administration & Risk Assessment

This year’s conference which took place on March 22nd, was devoted both to contractual risk and practical aspects of the work of contract administrators at sites. During the first part of the conference, current experience and achievements in terms of risk assessment and mitigation were presented as well as procedures of market management newly implemented in Mota-Engil Central Europe S.A. Later on, the participants were familiarized with practical aspects of work of contract administrators at sites, with a focus on Claim and Variation management (with case studies). Next, cash flow-related risks and risks connected with insurance claims were presented. The last part of the conference was devoted to presentation of new tendencies in the wording of contracts (on the basis of newly-prepared conditions of contract, FIDIC, and conditions applied by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) – the biggest public Employer in Poland, as well as to two significant issues connected with contract execution based on the Yellow FIDIC book – Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build.
